Will the DOJ Make Alphabet (GOOG) Soup and Break Up Google Over Search Monopoly?

In a court filing it was announced that the DOJ is considering ways that would prevent Alphabet’s (GOOG) Google from using products to advantage search and search-related products that includes AI over rivals or new entrants. Some remedies include banning search deals that would make Google the default on mobile phones to separating Chrome, Play and Android.

Additionally, a federal judge has ordered Google to lift its restrictions around rival app stores and billing systems around the Google Play Store. Analysts believe a complete breakup is unlikely. The judge has yet to decide on the remedies, and Google will likely appeal, drawing out the process potentially for years. Final remedies are expected on November 20th.
