Talkspace Expands Tele-Therapy Offering to Include Addiction Treatment
Telemedicine-based therapy provider, Talkspace (Nasdaq: TALK), has partnered with Bicycle Health to expand their respective patients’ access to virtual care. Bicycle Health is the nation’s largest telemedicine-based opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment program.
Talkspace patients will have increased access to OUD specialty care, including medication for opioid use disorder treatment (MOUD), and therapists who specialize in the treatment of OUD.
Natalie Cummins, Chief Business Officer at Talkspace, said, “Our mission is to make high quality mental health care accessible to all. By expanding our partnership with best-in-class care specialists like Bicycle Health, our patients can easily access evidenced-based treatment for substance use disorders.”
According to the NIH, 7.7 million Americans are living with co-occurring mental health conditions and substance use disorder, and just half of receive the treatment they need. Barriers to care include stigma, access to licensed therapists, and affordability. Collaborations between telehealth-based providers centralizes access to care and makes treatment more accessible, convenient, and affordable.
