SIGA Technologies (SIGA) Soars 29% as WHO Declares Monkeypox a Public Health Emergency
SIGA Technologies (SIGA) rose 29% as concerns over Monkeypox rises. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared Monkeypox a public health emergency of global concern, which is the highest alert level that WHO uses.
Investors have flocked to SIGA, due to the Company’s lead product TPOXX, an oral drug for the treatment of human smallpox caused by the variola virus. Monkeypox is in the same virus family as smallpox, but with milder symptoms.
