John Madden’s “BOOM-Worthy” Stock Picks and Playbook for Blitzing Sunday’s Super Bowl Party
On Sunday night, Super Bowl LVIII will be taking place in Las Vegas as the Kansas City Chiefs match up against the San Francisco 49ers. While this match up doesn’t seem to excite most anyone in the other 48 states, it’s a decent excuse to throw or attend a party. We will prepare you for everything you need to know whether you’re hosting or hanging. Even more exciting, we’ve picked some related stocks to watch that John Madden would consider “BOOM-worthy.
Tomahawks and Touchdowns
Let’s start with the first opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs. If you’re one of many who live in a populated and interesting place, flat middle of the country states, are probably not your specialty. They aren’t ours either. Since you never know when a Kansas City fan might be in attendance, avoid this party faux pas and remember that Kansas City is in Missouri. It’s still likely as bad as Kansas but, these people have a football team and barbeque food, for whatever that’s worth. We avoided the annoyingly obvious overly hyped subject here. You’re welcome.
Custom Truck One Source, Inc. (CTOS) is headquartered in Kansas City and provides equipment rental services to the electric utility transmission and distribution, telecommunications, rail, forestry, waste management, and other infrastructure-related industries. Most recently CTOS formed a strategic alliance with Scope Computer Vision Technologies. Over the past year, the stock has been unable to find the endzone as it’s down ~9%.
Goldmines and Goals
The Chiefs will be playing a team that hails from a real state and city. However, it’s unfortunate the Super Bowl is not taking place in San Fran to bring people into the city since everyone including the Tanners have packed up and started to leave. While the 49ers are being broadcast in the shadow of the Chiefs for this event, the team has a roster of talent that’s led by a young and humble quarterback. We aren’t going to pick sides because we don’t care, but if we must, we always prefer a quiet underdog.
Featured in the PRISM Healthcare Index and headquartered in San Francisco, the telehealth company, Hims and Hers Health, Inc. (HIMS) has recently launched a holistic weight loss program. In addition to its other offerings focused on sexual health and wellness, the new program offers a well-rounded and more affordable approach to reducing weight by addressing the underlying factors that affect people’s weight. Additionally, they intend to share their ”fourth quarter and full game playbook” on February 26th. Over the past year the stock is up ~11%.
The Spread
Now that we have covered the secondary event, let’s get to the main one, food and beverages. This is your opportunity to try out that new appetizer you’ve been eyeing or a chance to win guest bonus points for bringing a dish. Dips are typically the “go-to” however, we like to wow with a solid charcuterie board. Just make sure it’s quality and not the pathetic equivalent of our 5th grade Lunchables. Keep in mind when the adult beverage intake starts to kick in, it’s Sunday, you have work tomorrow, and no one has ever liked “that person” at any party.
Nothing goes better with a charcuterie board like a good glass of wine. So, throw a higher-class party, pop some bubbles and serve the beer to the people who show up in face paint that you don’t care about. Producer and seller of wine, Crimson Wine Group, Ltd. (CWGL) has recently appointed Adam Howell as its new Chief Financial Officer. While the stock has seen its share of fumbles, in the past year it has performed in the green and is up ~3%.
The Other Spread
If you’re not a fan of football or snacks and refreshments, there is still fun to be had on Sunday if you must host or attend a party. The opportunity to win money is evergreen during this event from Super Bowl squares to online betting, it’s a gamblers paradise. Broke? No problem. Non-football related viewing such as the halftime show, Puppy Bowl and commercials are also “Wazzzzuuuuppp” during the Super Bowl.
The global digital advertiser, Integral Ad Science Holding Corp. (IAS) has converted multiple first downs and driven down the field over the past year, returning ~44%. Most recently the company announced the expansion of its AI-driven brand safety and suitability measurement across META making their product now generally available across Facebook and Instagram Feed and Reels.
This weekend, whether you like the sport, the scene, the food or the commercials enjoy the ultimate “Sunday Funday” and hedge your football bets with some Madden BOOM-worthy stock plays to try and stay in the green.
“At the end of the game the team with the most points on the board is going to win.” – John Madden
