ChargePoint (CHPT) Powers Forward: Leading the NEVI Program with First Phase Completion in Rhode Island
PRISM Emerging EV Index company, Chargepoint (CHPT) is a leading provider of networked charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs). Today the company announced its ongoing leadership in enabling DC fast charging at locations funded by the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. Two newly opened ChargePoint sites along Interstate 95 in Rhode Island have made it the first state to complete Phase 1 of the NEVI program.
NEVI, part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), is a $5 billion initiative aimed at making ultra-fast charging accessible and reliable across U.S. highways. ChargePoint remains at the forefront of the EV charging industry, having received numerous NEVI awards. To date, 40% of U.S. states have announced their awards, with ChargePoint and its partners selected for over 125 sites. These sites represent nearly 600 fast charging ports across 20 states and total $75 million in proposed grant funding.
“ChargePoint and its partners are leading the industry by establishing the most NEVI-funded fast charging locations along major U.S. highways,” said Anne Smart, Vice President of Public Policy at ChargePoint. “Together, we are ensuring accessible, reliable fast charging solutions across the U.S., making sure all EV drivers can charge their vehicles when and where they need.”
