Aura Biosciences Advances Ocular Melanoma Treatment to Phase 3
Aura Biosciences (Nasdaq: AURA) has dosed the first patient in its global Phase 3 CoMpass trial evaluating the safety and efficacy of bel-sar for the first-line treatment of adult patients with early-stage choroidal melanoma. bel-sar is designed to selectively target and destroy cancer cells and activate the immune system, with the potential to create long-lasting, anti-tumor immunity.

Highlights
Aura’s CoMpass trial is a global Phase 3, randomized, multi-center, masked study, intended to enroll approximately 100 patients randomized 2:1:2 to receive high dose regimen of bel-sar, low dose regimen of bel-sar with suprachoroidal (SC) administration or a sham control.
The company has received FDA agreement under a Special Protocol Assessment (SPA) for the overall design of the CoMpass trial.
Choroidal melanoma is a rare ocular cancer. Around 1200 cases of choroidal melanoma, or about 5 cases per million of the population are diagnosed in the United States each year.
