No Tesla? No Problem. ChargePoint (CHPT) Launches Charging Connector That Fits Almost Every EV

PRISM Emerging EV Index company ChargePoint (CHPT) provides network charging solutions for EVs and has unveiled ChargePoint® Omni Port, an innovative EV connector solution that ensures any EV can charge in any parking space, regardless of connector type, without requiring an expensive additional cable. Omni Port eliminates the need for drivers to carry adapters, removes the requirement to dedicate parking spaces to specific connector types, and is available at no extra cost as a standard feature on applicable ChargePoint chargers.

Omni Port is the only publicly available solution in North America that resolves EV connector confusion across both AC and DC charging, allowing drivers of all vehicle makes to charge at the same station by incorporating the most common connector types into each charging port. This ensures that public charging ports are future-ready and designed to support both current and upcoming EV models. Omni Port will be integrated into select ChargePoint AC and DC charging stations at no additional cost, making it an obvious choice for new charger installations.

With over 5.5M EVs on North American roads, more than half of which are equipped with J1772 or CCS1 charging ports, the demand for public charger access will continue for years to come.
